Who is General Sentiment? Is he in charge of the mobile wars? ...You completely misunderstand. General Sentiment is not a who; General Sentiment is a what. What General Motors is to automobiles and General Electric is to electric devices, General Sentiment is to sentiments. However, General Sentiment has taken it on the chin in recent years because Asian manufacturers now produce cheap sentiment imports. GS has fought back by outsourcing sentiments to factories in China, Mexico, and South Africa. However, the unionized American sentiment worker produces world-class sentiments at a competitive price.

Thanks for the replies! I'm a little surprised there's not one speaking up for Perl, but yeah, did some more research on my own and found this
http://strombergers.com/python/
The Cocoa bridges/runtime are not a concern to me as I don't want "to make decent Mac OSX apps" with GUI and everything, just some command line tools for my own use. But the examples at that link pushed me over to go with Python. To put together quick automation scripts every now and then, I don't want to deal with a steep learning curve. The Perl examples there looked just too cryptic to me.

My question for discussion would be: 1) would you consider buying a used LCD monitor off of ebay? 2) What new 19" LCD would you recommend in the $450 price range?
I've heard good reviews about the Dell 1905FP 19", which is going for around ~$300 on eBay. Froogle gives PointShop.com as the lowest at $383 (http://froogle.google.com/froogle_url?q=http://www.pointshop.com/Mall/Catalog/Product/ASP/engine/Froogle/product-id/782389/store-id/1000044893.html&fr=AB_gAT4s7plo8-aKXbksvDLeE_AAEU68rdnh_5QmTdDHAAAAAAAAAAA) .
Or you could spend $250 more and get an (open box) Apple 20" (http://www.techforless.com/cgi-bin/tech4less/M8893ZLL/A?mv_pc=froogle). :D

Single player. Gameplay aside, I'm a huge fan of a good story. Games, books, films. Multiplayer stories just seem non-existent.
How about games based on reality tv? :D
(i hope this never happens)

Thought the video was pretty terrific even if I hadn't known it was shot on an iPhone. I've seen people with camera gear costing 10 or more times as much that couldn't touch the work you did.
Looking forward to seeing more.

I was a little skeptical at first with the ipad, but I bought one for my dad and after using it more and more on the side, I've found more and more uses for it myself.

The lineup in front of Eaton Centre has already started...

Makes me wonder if I should go somewhere else instead.
It means you should be lining up now lol.
I think any apple store will be safe for launch day. Even if its a long line, I think they'll be good with large quantities for the weekend.

I have installed Windows through bootcamp on my Mac. Is there any way to "ask" what disk to start up on so I don't have to hold the option key.

They don't cost that much. Where a new PC game is around 30-50, DS games rarely poke above 30 if you shop around.

Fine, fine. *envy*
Damn, always playing catch up. When i used wireframes, everyone was using flat shading. When i reached there, everyone was using texture mapped gourauds and phongs. After that was ray-tracing and now when i have implemented it with soft shadows, everyone is using path-tracing and derivatives. And my editor uses steam power. It took years to make.
Feel like Janina. (It's a Pin-Up. Model over 18 and in Finland pigtails no toddler make)

Use PithHelmet version 0.7.3. The latest versions don't work well. Always crashing, slowing down safari... ugh.
I tried it and still no joy; it actually crashed sooner than when I used the latest version. Oh well.

The memcpy() function returns a pointer to dest. (http://www.kernel.org/doc/man-pages/online/pages/man3/memcpy.3.html)
That falls under "esoteric knowledge that nobody should ever bother with". Which means it immediately fails a code review, just like someone writing "a + 1 << i" and expecting people to know which operator has higher precedence.

Have any of you tried upgrading (for whatever reason, maybe coming from a 3GS) and been questioned about the unlimited plan? It's still some 14 months away for me but I was just curious what might transpire when I try upgrading and they see I got unlimited data even though I joined AT&T AFTER June.

Are they doing the ads the same way the nytimes has been doing the ads?
Which hijack your screen every now and then for an ad -- before sending off to the link you clicked.
I hate when that happens.
Or when something is flying on your screen, like a giant kite.
Those animated ads that hijack the screen are out of control!
