Oh, I trust the attorneys to file it correctly, I was just wondering if there was any way of finding out if it was received and processed correctly. With the H1B, 140, 485, etc. you get a receipt notice, but I wasn't sure if that was the case with the G28, probably not.
The thought of the remote possibility of any correspondence from the USCIS going to the old attorney (for whatever reason), and not making it to me/new attorney in time to respond to it, is a little unnerving.
Well, anyway, no point losing sleep over these things, although it is easier said than done.

I agree. And this has happened. This happens NOT because new Attorney's G 28 did not get filed properly, it happens because VO may mix it up. Usually when a employer requests a revocation of 140 - in real - what the employer requests is "As this employee has left the company the prospects of his future employment with us is not there and we will not support this 140 petition in future. In other words an employer is telling INS "They will never hire you in future".
So the VO does two things here. They send acknowledgment letters to the employer and their Attorney on file and send RFE/NOID to you and your Attorney. In this process some mix up might happen. Remember, a lot of VOs are very ignorant about AC21 and they may not follow the guidelines properly. Under the AC21 law it is clear that all you do is to change job to a same/similar position. As long as you follow law nothing must happen.
Check your online status regularly - if you see LUDs call customer service - verify your address. If you do not get mail in 5 days - call again - if it is 15 days past call and ask them to fax it.

however, is it possible to have a couple of more important/relevant threads always on the top (maybe top 3-5 slots reserved), so that these important threads (like LIVE updates, Media drive, Contribution to IV) don't get lost (more often in some trivia being discussed).
also, as new members are logging to this group, they should be gently reminded that free lunch often upsets the stomach, so even a small/any contribution would help them feel better ;)

I have applied for my H1b extension back in April......Have not heard anything yet........once I get my H1b approval, can I apply for H4 extension from inside the country?? (Is that even required if you are already in AOS pending status?)
No, it not required but maintaining H1/H4 status allows person to remain in USA and apply for appeal if, for some reason, I-485 is denied. Otherwise, person is out of status from the date I-485 was denied.

USCIS has specified that they would have processed all the records into a single database by 29th October.
Does this not mean that there could be a forward movement in the Nov bullietin ?

What do you mean by working? Is this just your idea or you have some information on the effects of this campaign?
I am not saying that it is working on the USCIS. We dont know yet coz the flowers start reaching there tommorow. If it is working on USCIS, we would know by the end of the week. Not now.
But it is working on the media.
What I am saying is we are getting a good amount of attention from a lot of newspapers - which is important to create more awareness on the plight of half a million law abiding immigrants and the backlogs they are facing.

I just renewed my DL (9/06) at a local DMV here in NJ, I brought with me my bank statement/insurance, SSN card and EAD card. A nice lady just asked for my SSN and EAD. The whole process took 30 minutes. My DL has one year expiration. I am just waiting for my GC so I can go back and get a 5 year DL. Cheers.

There are a flock of spending bills that are coming up for a vote this month and next and this is the ideal time for legislation of this sort to get attached to such a bill.

The president said the system should stop penalising innocent young people for the actions of their parents, by denying them the chance to stay and contribute to build the country.
He said the presence of about 11 million illegal immigrants makes a mockery of all those who are going through the process of immigrating legally.
"Indeed, after years of patchwork fixes and ill-conceived revisions, the legal immigration system is as broken as the borders. Backlogs and bureaucracy means the process can take years," he observed.
He was quick to add that immigration reform has been held hostage to political posturing and special interest wrangling and to the pervasive sentiment in Washington that tackling such a thorny and emotional issue is inherently bad politics.
The president said besides addressing the issue of illegal immigrants, a reformed system also needs to address the need for talented people to stay and contribute to the country.
"While an applicant waits for approval, he or she is often forbidden from visiting the US, which means even husbands and wives may be forced to spend many years apart... High fees and need for lawyers may exclude worthy applicants.
