AC 21 will come into effect 6 months after you apply for your Adjustment of Status (485). You can apply for your 485 only when the visa numbers are available for your PD (EB2 currently for India is Jan 2003)

My attorney just emailed me a list of items he needs from me for filing 485. The list is surprisingly short. Is this package really sufficient?

For your wife:
1. Marriage certificate, w/English translation
2. Birth certificate w/ English translation
3. Biographical information page, and date of issuance/expiration page, from current passport
4. Copy of her current visa
5. Copies of other US visas you have had
6. Current I-94 card
7. Passport entry stamp from last entry into the United States
8. Six (6) passport photos
For you:
1. Birth certificate, w/ English translation
2. Six (6) passport photos
3. Last two (2) paycheck stubs

My condition: filing with current employer. I-140 was recently approved.

As for as i know they are very strict about MTR timings but if u can prove that u didnt get notice on time it may work .MTR is 580 bucks so it wouldnt hurt if u give a shot .I think if u file new labour u may loose ur old PD but im not sure about that .My 140 was denaied on A2p basis .didnt get denail notice till i mad 4 calls and asked attorney to write then but was abl to file MTR on 28th day which was sucessfull .

Sadly Immigration voice is giving importance to the “ number of posts” rather than “number of valuable posts” .
Some people are more interested to upgrade their title by putting more number of comments, which will have no information.
I request every one to understand that these are just somebody thoughts/comments some time they may be correct and some times
they are just garbage.

Last week out of a project..my desi consultancy sent me a termination notice(on H1 with this guy). 485 filed in July 2007. got EAD. I am looking for a project right now. Planning to join on EAD and look for a job.
What are my options? I am in status?

I am in the same boat as you. My EAD expires on Sept 12th. Still no response from NSC center. I have few friends that I know, who filed after I did and they all have recieved their EADs. Not sure whats going on.

Seems like NVARS has introduced a new process which is supposed to be more streamlined for getting appointment online but I am not sure of some of it's verbage.
We want to ensure that applicants already in the scheduling process are not negatively impacted by the change. In order to ensure you receive the visa services you have paid for, please review the guidance below regarding transition timetables.
* Applicants who have already scheduled an appointment at a U.S. consulate on or after September 1, 2010 through NVARS:
If you have already scheduled to attend an appointment through NVARS, please pay your MRV fee prior to September 1, 2010 and bring your Scotiabank receipt with you to your appointment. If you have not already scheduled an appointment, we recommend that you wait until September 1, 2010 or later to pay the MRV fee and register through the new service.
I highlighted the text in bold. My appointment is scheduled for Vancouver on Sept 8. What does this mean to me? Will I need to be physically in Canada prior to September 1, to be able to go to a Scotia bank and make payment there? This is insane. I still haven't gotten my canadian visa stamped on my passport so I can enter Canada.

The reasons for retrogression are limit on the number of visas available (140,000) per year, country cap and the number of applications with USCIS for adjustment of status and with DOS for CP. Nobody knows how many applications are outstanding and so we cannot estimate PD movement accurately.

Well my experience with passport renewal in Chicago was HORRIBLE. First it took about 6 week to receive it. I ordered a jumbo passport but received a regular one ...called the office and left several messages -NO REPLY. Finally one Mr.Chaman Lal had to answer my call. My luck Chaman was horrible to talk (too rude) and was a perfect Bihari babu ( no offense to any Biharis on forum) said in pure Bihari accent,"No Jumbo passport made here and as far as refund for the extra money for the jumbo passport I don't refund any paisa to anybody" and the bang he hung up.

With Mr having moved on from the Ombudsman's position, is there anyone else who might be able to help get this info from USCIS? Any IV contacts?
Last year also it was the Ombudsman's report of nearly 60k visa's being wasted
that seemed to trigger the dates becoming current, and flood of approvals for
a lot of people...

The same thing happened to my wife's I-129 petition on 4/26. Don't know what it is for.
My wife quit her H-1 job in 2007 and moved to EAD/I-485 status as a dependent.

Hello Friends,
My current passport is expiring in Jun 07. I have applied for passport renewal at Indian Embassy (Washington D.C.) in 3rd week of Jan 07 via courier. I may have to travel urgently to India by end of this month. Just wondering if anyone recently got their passport renewed at DC and what was the duration. It will help me to take the decision about departure date. Unfortunately DC is 5 hours drive from where I live. I am not sure even if take a day off and drive to DC to collect the passport they will even give it to me on the same day. Multiple attempts to contact DC office via phone/email were not helpful. No one picks the phone and their voice mail system is always full. Any advise on what I should to do know status of my passport renewal would be appreciated.
