i've had an NRE account and the only way to put money is in $. you can then withdraw the money in $ or Rs, but i haven't heard of being able to fund it with Rs to start with.
i believe that students can also bring a much bigger chunk nowadays, maybe try that track.
also, if the $100K can be brought to the US each yr, why can't parents send it here as a gift, what is the deal with 30%, does someone know?

I support this for point #6, to me if USCIS + DOS worked slow and wasted 200K visas then we shouldn't be paying price for that. They need to make it up and correct their mistake. Its not that hard but we need to raise voice, if the culture of this country suggests that we should go Lawsuit route then we should follow that route.
I think USCIS is also looking at closing loop holes, and to avoid a lawsuit that USCIS is purposely delaying GC and milking thru EAD/AP renewals they have changed to one-time fee structure. So we should hurry before they bring some kinda memo to block recapture route too.

Can anyone with some indepth knowledge predict availability for EB3 Rest of world (Canada). Here is some of what I understand - although I know it may be wrong (some infor from Shusterman site)....
- 300,000 applicants in BEC
- assume 200,000 get through
- assume 1/2 have a spouce and 1 child
- therefore need 400,000 visa numbers (Shusterman had 300K here, I think they are wrong??? - pls check my math)
- now most EB immigrants are from China & India (half?????) - restricted to 7% of the annual 140,000 EB visas annually
- all* applicants up to first half of 2002 are "gone" - *except for ones in BEC = how many????????????
- AND if rest of world is 200,000 people in line for 120,000 visas annually (140,000 - 7% China - 7% India)
- now people in line go from 2001 - mid 2005 in BEC??????; but very few 2001 & 2002s left????
- thus: rest of world with PD of March 2004 - should get visa availability within this fiscal year - e.g. by Oct 2007????

Yes, I called them and they said the process would generally take 30-40 days. They said, keep checking if your checks have cashed... I read in 1 message board some one posted that checks are cashed on Thursday............so tomorrow is a Thursday :D

This is unprecedented - NSC was doing Eb3 140's slowly and now they stopped.
NSC EB2 140 is July 5th 2007 (my friend got approval yesterday by filing in Aug 2007)
Clear your cache and then reopen browser - you should be able to see MAY 15th update.

Really a revolutionary idea. I like the idea of redrawing middle east map. It is over due now.
While talking about rederawing of boundarie, there is another interesting proposal doing the rounds in the global political discourses. This one is not a prediction, but a proposal to redraw the boundaries of the middle east. The idea was initially proposed by someone called Ralph Peters in the Armed Forces Journal in an article titled "Blood Borders" .
The core idea behind the proposal is that the state boundaries of middle east are unnatural, and it has given rise to artificial, nonviable and oppressive states. The only way to permanently solve the problems of islamic terrorism is to redraw the boundaries of the entire region.
The idea has been floating around on the Internet for a couple of years now. No wonder, the nationalities set to benefit from this proposal (Baluchis, Pakhtuns, Kurds, Shia Arabs etc) are enthusiastically rooting for it, while the ruling elites of the so called artificial states like Pakistan and Sunni Iraqis are adamantly against it. Nevertheless, it is an interesting read.
