I'll have to check into Pro Tools, including whether I can transfer my Windows license to Mac, which I doubt - so I may end up going with Logic.
Excellent suggestion on the RAM - that must mean it has 4 slots, need to install in pairs and I don't waste what ships with the machine? And the i7 sounds like a good choice too.
Thanks for the advice!
No worries :)
That's right. It has four slots and it does need to be installed in pairs. 2x2GB and 2x4GB should work great. I've got 12GB in my 09 27" iMac.
If you're unable to transfer the license, you could just buy a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and install it on a partition (Which you would create with BootCamp Assistant). Then you can boot into OS X or into Windows 7 (for Pro Tools).

Possible but it would seem odd that apple would update the Mac Pro line twice within 2 weeks. I say this because I would expect the Mac Pro to be the first system to get Blu-Ray. Customers who bought the updated Mac Pros since CES would have an even greater reason to feel shafted than the iPhone people did with the price drop.
Apple does not have to offer new hardware.
They support many camera formats without manufacturing cameras by themselves.
They should offer OsX (10.5.2?) software support for bd/hdcp and update for Dvd Studio Pro, which had last update before intel-macs... was it 2005...?
MP owners can buy new drive by themselves. That's what upgradeability means.
This whole "we want consumers to rent from iTunes, so we are not going to support new optical hd formats" thing cripples FCS badly, so pro's will be looking to adobe's offer instead.

could you explain why you posted this question in the macbook pro forum?
well many people thought that the first bridge was for iphone +SDK and the second bridge for mac hardware updates.

Not 100% sure what you're looking for. Are you looking to extract the values from the picker or overlay the labels.
I want that:
if value in the first component is cars, the second component is mustang the fisrst label must show "1970" and the second label must show "v8"
thanx

Some of my favs...
Super Stardust HD
PixelJunk Monsters
PixelJunk Eden
PixelJunk Shooter
Echochrome
Super Stardust is a twin-stick shooter that is a ton of fun and quite easy to learn. I really enjoy the PixelJunk games. Shooter is probably the best one, but it is a bit short. Eden is fun, but the difficulty ramps up to just BRUTAL levels. Monsters is great if you like "Tower Defense" games. Echocrome is a really neat puzzle game.

Wow! Just wow. First, your movie editor cannot change your source footage. Second, DV is Digital Video. If you have analog video, then it impossible for it to be DV.
If my source is VHS then its analogue.
If iMovie is software running on a computer an the data format iMovie saves in is DV, then it is DV, isn't it?
And to the point of changing picture quality I ment: if the software got better over the year it may handle recording the source in a different way (e.g. filtering noise while recording, bettering line time base...).
I know there is software that does things one does not know of without asking, for example EyeTV records in mpeg2 and calculates which of the frames it can omit, because it is the same as the frame before.
Maybe iMovie does things I do not know of and it does it different in Version 3 than in Version 5. Maybe Version 5 is better in saving the correct PAL-solution not adding pixels that are not needed, while recording. Another thing one could imagine is that maybe one version records defective areas of the tape while the other will stop recording and you have to start recording again.
See what thought was behind my question?

This will have absolutely no effect on SSDs (http://cseweb.ucsd.edu/users/swanson/papers/Fast2011SecErase.pdf) beyond simply wearing them out. A single pass is more than adequate.
awesome techy article yet 2 questions:
why would an SSD/Flash Drive wear out within the life of the machine?
(even with heavy 'normal' use)
if it indeed did, then what's AppleCare for?
if you can't get 3 years out of a storage device running Mac OSX - even erasing and reinstalling the :apple: OS once a week - then something's amiss.

You won't believe this.
It was a bad wireless card.
Using brilliant deductive reasoning I finally thought, "this is either a badly seated Airport card, or just a downright bad card."
After unplugging/replugging the card in numerous times (disconnecting/connecting the little plug each time), just to be sure it was in fact seated well (which I'd done once before last week), I finally opened up my other Mac laptop (which uses the same identical card) and put it into this new iBook.
Damn. Lightening fast. I"M UP.
Just to check, I then plugged in this supposedly broken Airport card into my PowerBook, and sure enough: no signal. The card really is bad.
Why did the iBook work great while in the Apple Store in Cherry Creek? This is what initially had me think that it could not be a hardware problem. Then I realized: perhaps a Mac can get barely pick up a wireless signal even without the Airport card. Either that, or the card kinda/sorta/sometimes would work. And, I'll bet the signal strength in the Apple store was super strong, and got through even a semi-busted airport card.
That's the first time a problem has actually been the darn hardware in all my 14 years of Mac'ing. I will never again discount physical matter as the potential source of the glitch.
Criminy. I think I spend about 30-40 solid hours trying to figure this one out.
Yaaaaahoooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Thanks, guys!
I love the look of the iMac G4, but that's purely aesthetic. It WOULD work for my application, though (just Qlab > Mbox2 > mackie whatever board they have me use that show)
Fortunately, when I sounded the horn on ye olde facebook, a friend offered his G5 tower for free. All I need to do is supply a monitor, and I can definitely Amazon me a cheap flat panel. Probably the best possible scenario! But now of course I just want a G4 to put up iTunes visualizer and never turn it off =)
EDIT: Talked the the guy who is selling the G4 iMac, and we worked out a deal that ends with me getting the iMac- FOR FREE! I work at Disneyland, so I have a pretty hefty bargaining chip... So now my dilemma is solved. 2 computers, no money out of pocket. Interesting how some things work themselves out!

I'm still relatively new to OS X, but holding the option key is the only way I know of to select which disk to boot. If there is another way (e.g., a boot-time menu or something that didn't require holding a key), I'd be interested to know about it.

Not as big a hassle as yours but I ordered a TV off pixmania (UK) and it came with a Euro plug. Phoned to complain and they sent me an adapter.
Not a big deal but I was a bit miffed that they didnt advertise it as Eur plug. I'm a bit paranoid about having it plugged to an adapter all the time (not sure why!)
Pixmania is owned by DSGi - yes, the dreaded Currys, PC World cowboys!!
I was once going to buy a camera from there because it was so cheap. Thankfully, the 'If it's too good to be true ..." adage sprang to mind didn't go through with it.

i like ifile which allows me to play movies and music off of a microsd card (through camera connector) which essentially expands the overall ipad storage space!
A bit OT, does the camera connector work with iPhone 4?

There's only so many ways in which you can lay out what Apple has already chewed up and spat out. We can forgive MS for using the same layout, obviously. Of course, it's also obvious that this is another "me too" effort by them in a long string of late-to-the-party last-ditch attempts to not look like complete retards.
Anyway, are these shots even confirmed?
They are in desperate need of a change in management, regardless.
